Recycling aluminum cans helps you do your part in saving the environment, but the cans also can lend a helping hand to charities. Through The Aluminum Association’s Cans for Causes program, started on January 1, 2009, virtually any organization can raise money for its efforts simply by recycling aluminum cans. Cans for Causes benefits schools, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Lions Club, rotary clubs, YMCAs, hospitals, colleges, universities, PTAs and more. All that is required to sign up is to register online for the program and The Aluminum Association will provide the organization with bins to collect aluminum cans. All funds raised through the program directly benefit the individual organization, and may be spent as the organization wishes.
