Crocs-Cares.jpg With corporations, limited liabilities, charities, nongovernment organizations and every other business model under the sun implementing sustainable actions, green business is at an all-time high. From reducing CO2 emissions at manufacturing facilities to cutting out excess paper in everyday tasks, it seems everyone is making the extra effort by weaving responsibility into their stitching. While some companies may have this skill down pat, it is time to start thinking outside the box and ponder how we can make an impact on the lives of others, or what some call “social responsibility.” Social responsibility is taking off like never before, and so many companies are practicing philanthropic programs in a wide set of focus areas like education, health, economic development and so much more. Taking a role in this effort is Crocs Cares, a program created by Crocs footwear that is dedicated to creating positive change and comfort by providing shoes to those in need for happy and healthy feet around the world. With millions of people who cannot afford basic needs such as shoes, children are left with walking many miles on a daily basis just to retrieve water or attend school. Oftentimes, these children receive cuts and pick up skin infections and infestations like hookworms, tungiasis, ringworm and other viruses that could be avoided by something as simple as wearing a pair of shoes. Because Crocs uses a Croslite material, these shoes are closed-cell resin, making them lightweight, easy to clean, durable, fun and most importantly the perfect pair of shoes to donate. By providing shoes to families and children in need around the world since 2007, Crocs Cares has donated more than 3.2 million pairs of shoes in 40-plus impoverished countries. While reaching regions like Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa and Asia with donated shoes, Crocs is fulfilling the social responsibility side of its business and making an impact in the lives of others. To make this effort a reality, Croc Cares partners with Soles4Souls, reaching out to all of their consumers asking for gently used Crocs. Whether your Crocs are a size too small or are just sitting in the back of your closet, your donation can be meaningful to a needy family. To get started, just stop by a participating retail store or mail your shoes to: Shoes4Souls 315 Airport Rd. Roanoke, AL 36274 For every shoe that Shoes4Souls receives, it will clean and re-donate them to those who need shoes around the world. Our social responsibility does not end with curbside recycling, but in fact continues through all aspects of life, including something as simple as a pair of shoes.
