Bioenergy is energy derived from biomass–newly expired organic matter such as wood, straw, crops, algae, sewage sludge, animal litter or other biological waste. Biomass is an energy source as it has trapped solar energy derived during photosynthesis. Biogas and biofuels fall under the category of bioenergy which can be used to create electricity, produce heat or power vehicles. Bionergy is a form of renewable energy, and reduces the need for fossil fuels and landfill space.
