Materials or waste left after crop harvesting or processing. Materials left after harvesting crops are called field residues which include stalks, stubble or stems, leaves and seed pods. If field residues are managed well, irrigation becomes more efficient and soil erosion can be better controlled. Process residues are materials left after crop processing. Such residues include seeds, husks, roots and bagasse. Process residues can be used as animal fodder, soil conditioner and as manufacturing materials.
