One of the foremost environmental health threats to children in the US. Based on EPA studies, almost half a million children have been tested to have significant amounts of lead in their blood. And children are the most vulnerable to the health effects of lead. Lead poisoning is known to result in reduced intelligence and attention span causing learning disabilities and even damage to a child’s brain and nervous system. Children can be poisoned by lead in and around the home when exposed to harmful levels of lead-contaminated dust, chipping lead-based paint and lead-contaminated soil.
