The US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) list of hazardous waste sites eligible for long-term environmental clean-up under the federal Superfund program. EPA regulations outline a formal process for assessing hazardous waste sites for inclusion on the NPL. One of the mechanisms for placing a waste site on the NPL is the EPA’s Hazardous Ranking System. Generally, sites must meet a set score to be eligible as a Superfund Site.
