Any animal, plant or living organism which are close to the possibility of being extinct in the future. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (ICUN) is the world authority on threatened species, which are classified under three categories: vulnerable, endangered and critically endangered. Threatened species are also known as red-listed species as they are enumerated in the official ICUN Red List of Threatened Species.
