While lead- and oil-based paints are toxic and should be taken to a hazardous waste facility, latex paint is recyclable. If you’re confused if your paint is recyclable, check the EPA guidelines for assistance. A number of latex paint manufacturers accept unused paint for recycling. Most paint gets recycled into new latex paint, while the rest is usually used to make cement. You can also donate your unused paint to any Goodwill location, or list it on Freecycle or Craigslist.
